Gaylord Toncey Pedigo, 78, of rural Galesburg, died at 5:55 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2024, in Seminary Manor.

He was born June 23, 1945, in Monmouth, the son of Clarence “Toncey” Llewellyn and Berneice (Quiggens) Pedigo. He married Patricia Morris on August 8, 1965, in Abingdon.

He is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Patricia; three daughters, Shereth and Christian Doenitz, Greta and Paul Brooks, and Alethea and Brian Morse; eight grandchildren, Peyton, Kennedy, Evan, Wesley, Trever, Dawson, Caleb, and Abigail; four great grandchildren, Maddux, Eila, Clara, and Nolan; a brother, Greg and Rose Pedigo; three sisters, Kathy Lawrence, Dale and Duane Mansir, and Letty Carr; and a special family friend, Seth Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gaylord graduated from Abingdon High School in 1963. He went on to attend Western Illinois University and Canton Community College. He was a Journeyman Electrician with IBEW Local 34, for 55 years, until retiring in 2006.

Gaylord was a member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church. He enjoyed raising a wide variety of birds and “farm” animals, hunting, trapping, refinishing antiques, farm toys, auctions, the St. Louis Cardinals, and all things with his daughters and grandkids.

Gaylord was also very proud of the many projects he was a part of thru IBEW Local 34, such as St. Mary’s Hospital, Knox College, and St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana.

Cremation will be accorded. To celebrate his life, his family is hosting a casual gathering to share stories and fellowship on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Abingdon American Legion beginning at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Abingdon Food Pantry, Feed My Lambs Abingdon, or the Abingdon United Methodist Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Abingdon is honored to assist the family with cremation arrangements.
