Numbers are in from the Monmouth Police Department for the month of January, reports Police Chief Joe Switzer:

“For the month of January, we made 30 arrests, we issued 92 citations, we handled 1,198 calls, the dispatch center took in 2,865 calls, we handled 26 accidents, and the officers worked 42 grant hours. That is about normal. The numbers even-flow, some months are a little more busier than others, depends on how many grant hours we are out there working per month and the holidays when they come around, obviously, we have more people out.”

In March, the Monmouth Police Department will participate in the campaign through the Illinois Department of Transportation for traffic enforcement during the weeks surrounding St. Patrick’s Day
