$39 Million Budget Allows for Continued Capital Improvements in Monmouth

A $39 million budget for fiscal year 2024-2025 was presented to the Monmouth City Council, which continues to allocate capital improvement funds for a number of projects, reports City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher:

“It includes the public square streetscape beautification, which we are hoping will start in June. The fiscal year for the City begins on May 1st and end on April 30th of each year, so this budget begins May 1st, 2024. The North 6th Street road reconstruction project is also in there and then we will complete the wastewater treatment disinfection project. Also, we did get $960,000 through Congressman Sorensen for the lead service line replacement project, so that will be going on and then possibly some funding in place for construction of the new water treatment plant to increase the water supply for the community and the industries in town.”

City Council did authorize administration to schedule a Public Hearing for the April 1st Council Meeting, which will also include an ordinance on the agenda to formerly adopt the budget.
