Monmouth-Roseville Students Place their Hands in Community Activities

Nearing the end of the third quarter, students in the Monmouth-Roseville School District have had their hands in many corners of the community, reports Superintendent Ed Fletcher:

“We had some students, Kyler Bennett, Camdyn Bennett, and Rowan Love do some awesome, awesome projects and win some awards at the Town and Country Art Show. The high school did a blood drive recently; very cool to see kids to get involved in civic projects. 31 units of blood were collected, so that was really cool. At Harding, they did an American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge. They do donations and P.E. activities that focus on heart health and staying active. The top money raisers were third graders Ryker Brown and Olivia Hull. At the high school, they recently had the Polar Plunge and Team Titan Nation raised over $6,000 for Special Olympics. Our team won the Cool School Challenge for the most money raised by a school and we took second place overall for all the teams entered. I know with school you talk about academics and standardized tests, but to show kids a path moving forward with regards to on how to get involved in community activities, I think it is really cool that we do that.”

In business items during the Board of Education meeting, the Board approved drainage work at Central and sidewalk and drainage projects at the high school this summer.
