Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 24, 2024:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior track and field athlete, Carmyn Huston. Carmyn brought home another medal from the Class 2A Illinois Prep Top Times Meet in Bloomington for the 2nd straight year. Her throw of 39′ 3″ was good enough for 2nd place. The Prep Top Times Meet is the unofficial high school indoor state championship.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior track and field athlete, Reece Bertelsen. Reece brought home three medals from the Class 1A Illinois Prep Top Times Meet in Bloomington. She crossed the finish line in 5th place in the 60 meter dash. Reece ran a leg on two, second place relay teams, as well. The Prep Top Times Meet is the unofficial high school indoor state championship.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore softball player, Delaney Endress. What a great start to the season by Delaney. After hitting one home run in limited action in her freshman year, she has already blasted two, round-trippers in her first two games of 2024. In just two games, Delaney leads the Heat with six runs batted in.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior track and field athlete, Plamedi Nseka. Plamedi brought home a medal from the unofficial, but widely recognized, high school indoor state championship meet in Bloomington. After placing 11th in the 2022 and 6th in 2023, he placed 2nd this year’s Class 2A Illinois Prep Top Times Meet.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore track and field athlete, Carter Stroot. Carter just missed bringing home three medals from the Class 1A Illinois Prep Top Times Meet in Blomington. He did garner some hardware in the 200 meter dash, placing 2nd. Carter just missed medaling in the 400 meter with a 9th place finish and also ran a leg on the 12th place 4×200 meter relay team.
