(Indianapolis, IN) — For the first time in the program’s history, the Illinois women’s basketball team has won a championship.  Last night, the team beat Villanova to capture the inaugural Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.  The final score was 71-to-57.  The Illini fell behind at the half but then took off on an 11-and-one run to begin the second half and never looked back.  Three Illinois players — Kendall Bostic, Genesis Bryant and Makira Cook — made the All-Tournament team while Cook was named the MVP.
