Michael “Mike” Todd Painter, 58, of Smithville, Texas, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at St. David’s Medical Center, in South Austin, Texas at 11:15 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Mike was born in Monmouth, Illinois on February 11, 1966, the son of Betty (Schisler) and Russell Painter. Mike grew up in Monmouth and attended Monmouth schools. Mike moved to Austin, Texas after high school where he made his home. 

Mike began working at Browning Auto Parts in Austin, Texas in 1984. He started at Browning as a yard mechanic and was then promoted to sales. Mike worked his whole career at Browning, for 40 years until his death. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, Austin Ice Bats Hockey, the Dallas Cowboys, and St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed watching old TV shows and Westerns. 

Mike is survived by his mother and step-father, Betty & Bob Clark of Phoenix, Az., his sister in-law, Karri Painter of Monmouth, Il., and his half-brother Chris Painter of Monmouth, Il.. Also surviving are his aunt, Marilyn “Jo” Johnson, and Uncle Gus Schisler, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mike is also survived by special friends, Ginny Boyce, Steve Foust, and Dwight Brown all of Texas, and Homer Holeman of Monmouth.  Mike also leaves behind his 2 dogs, Racer and Skipper. Mike is preceded in death by his father, Russell Painter, and brother, Mark Painter, his grandparents, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral service for Michael Painter will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, Illinois. The family is requesting casual dress. A memorial is being established for Western Illinois Animal Rescue, Monmouth, Illinois.
