Toberman Wins Shot Put at Meet of Champions

The Monmouth College track and field teams finished the two-day Augustana Meet of Champions on Saturday. After competing in the discus, javelin and 10,000m on Friday, the other events were contested on Saturday.

Men
Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) added to his successful Friday night with two big throws on Saturday in a loaded field. He won the shot put with a career-best throw of 15.67m and finished third in the hammer with a career best throw of 56.53m. The hammer throw is the second-best in school history as Toberman surpassed Joe Krall’s 2019 MWC Championship throw.

Women
Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) took third in the shot put with a career-best throw of 13.21m and Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) took fifth at 13.10m. Boley was also fourth in the hammer with a career-best throw of 50.40m that ranks fifth in school history. Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) took fifth in the hammer at 46.03m and Gracie Gibbons (Altona, Illinois) took ninth in both the shot put and the hammer.

Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) finished seventh with an outdoor career-best of 3.29m in the pole vault. Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) also had an outdoor career high in the long jump at 5.23 as she finished third.

Samantha Costello (Morris, Illinois) took sixth in the 5000m in a career-best time of 20:05.47.

NEXT UP:

The Scots head to Illinois Wesleyan on Friday for their final regular-season road meet. In addition, Boley will compete in the discus on Friday at the prestigious Drake Relays.
