Nevaeh Stokes Returns to Sectionals, Looks to Punch Ticket to State

Monmouth-Roseville senior Nevaeh Stokes will look to keep her season going today as she competes in the IHSA Girls’ Golf Sectional at Valley View in Cambridge.

Stokes shot a 94 at last week’s regional at Baker Park in Kewanee, finishing sixth overall and as the top individual not on a qualifying team, earning her spot in today’s sectional.

This will be Stokes’ second straight trip to sectionals after also making it last year. This time around, she will look to take it one step farther and punch her ticket to the state tournament.

Athletic Director Jeremy Adolphson says Stokes has put herself in a good spot heading into today.

“Nevaeh Stokes did awesome. She was sixth overall individual. She was the top individual that was not part of a qualifying sectional team, so that gives her a spot today. She will be at Valley View in Cambridge. I know she’s got high aspirations there, but looking at the seeds and what people shot, and obviously you’re comparing different courses, has an excellent opportunity to extend her season one more week and get to the state finals. You can follow it on the IHSA golf app or on the I Wanna Maker site to see how things are going throughout. So, looking forward to keeping tabs on that today.”

Stokes will tee it up today at Valley View in Cambridge, looking to advance to the state tournament for the first time.
