Maria Jane Stone, 66, of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Allure of Lake Storey, Galesburg.

Maria was born June 17, 1958 in Macomb, Illinois, the daughter of Ernest Holt and Marlene Ann (Williams) Stone. After graduating from high school, Maria attended Carl Sandburg College earning her nursing degree. She went on to a long career in nursing working mostly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until her retirement.

Maria is survived by her mother, Marlene of Galesburg; one brother, Tom Stone of Yates City, Illinois; two sisters, Susan (Doug) Curtis of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Angela (Gary) Osborn of Avon, Illinois; three nephews, Joe Curtis, Ryan Osborn, and Jake (Joanna) Osborn, one niece, Rachel Curtis; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Gregory.

Never one to sit still, she loved to be on the go, Maria enjoyed attending concerts, playing bingo, searching for antiques, and attending horse shows. She was an avid collector of Barbie Dolls.

Cremation will be accorded. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate. A celebration of life will follow graveside services at the Thomas Legacy Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
