Nathaniel S. ” Nate ” Hawk, age 31, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away after a traffic accident in Galesburg on Wednesday June 19, 2024 at 8:09 pm. Nate was born on July 21, 1992 in Galesburg, Illinois and is the son of James Dale Hawk and Beth Ann Hupp. Nate was raised in Presho, South Dakota where he attended local schools and graduated from Lyman High School. Nate has held three jobs locally, where he has been a machinist and welder. He worked at Midstate Manufacturing for a number of years, worked at Dowers Roofing in Galesburg, Illinois, and also has been employed by Mechanical Service Incorporated (MSI) of Galesburg, Illinois. Nate loved motorcycles and playing guitar and music. He also enjoyed cooking on the grill.

He is survived by his father, James D. Hawk and Cat Hawk of Monmouth and his mother, Beth A. Hupp of Presho, South Dakota.  His 3 children, Charley Jean Hawk and Rickie Leigh Collinson,  one step son Raiden Brackett of Knoxville, Illinois and Lila Ann Hawk of Monmouth, Illinois,  His three brothers and one sister, Casey Hupp of Reliance, South Dakota, Nikoli Morales of Bloomington, Illinois, and Blaze Hawk of Monmouth, Illinois, Zoe Hawk of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Nate’s hunka grandfather, Jim Christensen and most of the Thunder Bull family of the Oglala Lakota Souix Tribe in Kyle, South Dakota. His grandparents on both sides, hunka grandmother, 2 uncles, and relatives in Kyle, South Dakota have preceded him in his death.

A funeral service for Nate is planned on Thursday June 27, 2024 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, at 2:00 pm. His family plans visitation and will receive their friends and family from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Thursday at the Funeral Home. Cremation then will be accorded.
