Carl A. Haneghan, 84, of Galesburg, died at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Marigold Health Care Center.

He was born September 12, 1939, in Warsaw, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Hazel (Miller) Haneghan. He married Myra Jean Tribley on May 23, 1959, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on July 18, 1997, after 38 years of marriage.

He is survived by a daughter, Shawn (Jon) Underwood of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Ashley (Tyler) Brown, Zachary Underwood, and Zoe (Mark Smith) Underwood; two great grandchildren, Sophia and Henry Brown; a sister, Jane Wessels of Galesburg; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jerry Haneghan, Leon Haneghan, Bill Haneghan, Bob Haneghan, Joe Haneghan, Steve Haneghan, Leo Haneghan, Jim Haneghan, Alice Higareda, Dorothy Haneghan, and Gloria Milan.

Carl was the owner/operator of Haneghan’s Automotive for the past 47 years. He loved his business and socializing with his customers. Carl enjoyed fishing and camping all over, but especially in Missouri as that is where the best trout fishing is. In recent years, he enjoyed going to Las Vegas and riverboat casinos. He had a love for watching old Westerns and drinking coffee. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who truly enjoyed time with his family.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024, at the funeral home with Deacon Michael Crummer officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or the AOW (Altona/Oneida/Wataga) Ambulance Service.
