Dorothy Lee Anderson, age 86, of Carman, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst, Illinois.  She was born December 10, 1937 in Keithsville, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Juanita Perkins Dooley.  On August 31, 1963, she married Jay Anderson in Carman.  He preceded her in death on August 24, 2008.

Dorothy worked at various restaurants in the area.  Most recently, she worked in the cafeteria of the Southern School District  for thirteen years, retiring in 2007.  Family was the most important thing in her life, and she loved all family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a member of the Carman United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter: Jackie (Dennis) Willson of Burlington, IA, one son: William “Bill” Doran of Carman, IL, six grandchildren: Jessica Doran, Ryan (Megan J.) Hassell, Sybil (Michael) Baxa, Megan Ann (Jeremy) Shipman, Denny (Jen Stinocher) Willson, Allison Pierce, and thirteen great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, father: Raymond Dooley, mother: Juanita Seago, one sister: Sue Belt, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral for Mrs. Anderson will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Pastor Karen Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in the Carman Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 am. until time of services on Thursday at Banks & Beals.
