She was born January 10, 1935, in Galesburg, the daughter of John and Mary (Reeve) Davis II. She married Willis M. Hyman on May 26, 1951, in Galesburg.

She is survived by her husband and best friend of over 73 years, Willis; four children, Shawn (Nanette Vaglica) Hyman of California, Mary (Craig) Foster of Bushnell, Jenny Hyman of Galesburg, and Roxie (Bill) Leahy of Alexis; eight grandchildren, Tony Main, David Armstrong, Nick (Amanda) Hyman, Dustin (Jessica) Foster, Carley (Kyle) Promisson, Mackenzie (David Bracey) Foster, Tyler (Megan) Leahy, and Zach (Kelsey Meredith) Leahy; seven great grandchildren, Emma and Eire Armstrong, Nathan Hyman, Natalie and Lillian Foster, and Samuel and Miah Promisson; and siblings, Pat Rose of Knoxville, Mary Sholl of Milan, Paula (Jerry) Rogis of Clinton, Iowa, Kathy Knox of London Mills, and John (Karen) Davis III of London Mills. She was preceded in death by her parents; three daughters, Celine Hyman, Charley Armstrong, and Cynthia Main; a grandson, Dylan Main; and sisters, Joyce Compton and Laurie Landis.

Carole was a homemaker. Her family was very important to her as she enjoyed spending her time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. The family home was the place where all the fun happened as we gathered together, people and dogs, to celebrate the holidays and other life events. Carole loved decorating the house for the seasons and holidays and cherished these celebrations with family.

Carole was an avid reader and had a large collection of books. She especially enjoyed reading books by James Patterson, David Baldacci, and Stephen King. In addition to spending time with family and reading, Carole enjoyed collecting Barbies, other dolls, and collectibles and had a massive collection. She also always enjoyed going for drives around town and out in the country and going out to eat. She was the best wife, mom, granny, and great granny and we are grateful that she was ours. Carole will be greatly missed by her family and anybody who was fortunate enough to know her.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bushnell/Prairie City High School Library. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family. Online condolences and memories may be shared on the funeral home’s website at www.h-p-w.com.
