The United Red Storm football team opened their 2024 fall football season on Friday night, welcoming in a new member to the Lincolnland conference, the Bureau Valley Storm. Opening the first quarter, BV got the early jump on United, scoring back to back times before the Red Storm got on the board with a touchdown from Zeke Clark. Clark would nearly add another score to tie the game up, however his 90 yard punt return was called back due to a flag on the return, which let Bureau Valley take a 14-7 lead into the half.

Out of the halftime break, Bureau Valley would add on to their lead with 3 straight touchdowns, taking a 35-7 advantage into the final quarter of play. Zeke Clark found his way to the endzone from 48 yards out to try to put United back into striking distance, but Bureau Valley would close the door on the Red Storm, piling on two more scores to secure a 48-21 win to start the year. United’s loss drops them to 0-1 to start the year, and they will look to rebound next week, with a road match against Rushville-Industry next Friday.
