Mary E. Redding, 89, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 1:00 pm., Saturday, September 7, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.

She was born July 19, 1935 in Brookport, IL the daughter of Charlie H. and Effie (McCoy) Rixie. Mary was raised and educated in Brookport until moving to the Roseville area.

Mary married Howard J. “Shorty” Tatman on July 10, 1952 in Burlington, IA. She later married Russell “Dean” Redding on November 10, 1984 in Las Vegas, NV and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2009.

Mary first worked at Monmouth Hospital in the Dietary Department. She then worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for several years. Mary later worked at Maytag in Galesburg for over 24 years until her retirement. She loved living on the river with Dean and going on pontoon rides and fishing. Mary enjoyed cooking for her family and cherished the times they would come visit with her. She loved to go watch her grandchildren’s activities and was their biggest fan. Mary was a member of the Faith Bible Church in Oquawka and her faith was very important to her.

Survivors include her daughter, Nelma Jean Almaguer of Monmouth, IL; three step children; Ron Redding of Charleston, S.C., Dennis Redding of Florida, Teresa Lundy of Middleburg, FL; her grandchildren; Chris (Samantha Mason) Almaguer of Monmouth, Jason (Heather Mason) Almaguer of Monmouth, IL, Julie Jones of Peoria, IL, Colton Tatman of Galesburg, IL, Alyssa (Devin) Clevenger of Moline, Katelynn Childress of Middleburg, FL, and Danielle Crews of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving are her Great Grandchildren; Cody, Kamryn, Zach, Ayden, Klaire, Lucas, Kruz, Adelyn, Laiken, Louella, Kollin, Lawson, Kwynne; and her great great granddaughters, Rylynn and Ava.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Charles “Jimmy” Tatman, and son-in-law, Bob Almaguer and her brother, Frank Dills.

Mary’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the excellent care that the Henderson County Home Health Care provided and her church families.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 13, 2024 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oquawka Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Faith Bible Church in Oquawka.
