Buck Sharon passed away on Sunday October 13, 2024 at University of Iowa Hospital, surrounded by his immediate family.

Buck was born on December 23, 1955 in Macomb, Illinois. He grew up in Bushnell, Illinois, which is where he developed a love of farming and cattle while working on his grandfather’s farm.

Buck met his wife Sue while they were crossing paths in their college years. They married in Tampico, Illinois on December 3, 1977. Their wedding took place in the middle of a huge snowstorm, including 12-foot snowdrifts and widespread frozen roads.

They spent their early married years in Versailles, Missouri before returning to the Bushnell area. He earned his pilot’s license and flew a Cessna 180 carrying family and pets to visit the family in Illinois regularly. Buck and Sue competed in cattle working contests and took home champion honors several years. He was passionate about Angus cattle, both raising them, and attending many a cattle auction and of course talking cattle to anyone he met.

Buck was known for his outgoing and friendly nature. He knew most of the people in the area by name, knew their families, and always had a kind word to say or joke to tell. He never met anyone who would be a stranger after a few minutes. He always wanted to know where you were from, and would most likely know someone who was connected to you.

In his later years, he enjoyed traveling with Sue and their best friends Betty and Dave. They toured the country playing cards, laughing and telling jokes the whole time.

He is survived by his wife Sue, his son Travis (Shannon), grandchildren Dylan, Emily and Carter, his daughter Sarah (Dave Mathes). He is preceded by his parents, Alan and Ruth Sharon, and his favorite mother-in-law Janice. His family was his pride and joy.

A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday October 18, 2024 at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after the visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Iowa Home Dialysis Unit. Moore Memorial Home, Roseville, is handling the arrangements. For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit our website at www.moorememorial.com
