Jan W. Holeman, 77, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. 

He was born on June 9, 1947 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Max “Smokey” and Georgene (Means) Holeman.  Jan was raised and educated in Monmouth. 

 Jan married Jeanie Johnson on May 1, 1965 in Monmouth, IL and she survives. 

Jan worked for 38 ½ years for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a mechanic and machinist until his retirement.  He enjoyed playing pitch, watching County Music television, and going coon hunting.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. 

Surviving Jan is his wife of 59 years, Jeanie Holeman of Monmouth, IL; his children, Jan Holeman, Jr. of Monmouth, IL, Steve (Stacie) Holeman of Oquawka, IL; his grandchildren, Sara Holeman, Ashley Holeman, Katie Holeman, Danny Holeman, Kayla Holeman, Brad Holeman; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Theodore Holeman of Galesburg, IL, Jeffrey Holeman of Cameron, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Joyce Barry and Jeanine Holeman; and two brothers, Lee Holeman and Donnie Holeman. 

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A private family interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, IL.  Memorials can be made to the Jan Holeman Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home.
