Mr. Kevin E. Kitterman, 66, of Colona, Illinois died 2:12 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at his home. 

He was born August 17, 1958, in Kewanee, Illinois to Phillip E. and Sally A. (Nye) Kitterman.  He married Linda Lawson, and they had two children.  He later married Jolynn Roush Helgren on January 27, 2006, in Galesburg. 

Surviving is his wife, Jolynn Kitterman of Colona, his father, Phillip Kitterman of Galva, Illinois, three sons, Aaron (and Liz) Kitterman of Davenport, Iowa, Travis (and Ashley) Helgren of Virginia, and Trent (and Alex Sherbeyn) Helgren of Peoria, Illinois, a daughter, Jennifer (and Gary) Abbott of Galesburg, three brothers, Al (and Sue) Kitterman of Galva, Timothy Kitterman of Victoria, Illinois, and Pat Kitterman of Galva, and six grandchildren, Jalen, Mason, Kaden, Lilly, Aubrey, and Liam.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Kitterman, and a son, Tyler Helgren. 

Kevin graduated from Toulon High School in 1976.  He was a firefighter for the Galesburg Fire Department for 22 years and retired in 2004.  He then worked for Alcoa Aluminum Mill for 14 years.  During his time with the fire department, he also worked for Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home assisting on night calls.  Kevin was proud of being a recovered alcoholic and was very active within the program.  He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and Denny Hamlin was his favorite NASCAR driver.  In his free time, he enjoyed golfing in Geneseo and Colona.  Most of all, he loved traveling and spending time with his wife, Jolynn.  Kevin will be missed by all who know him. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel.  Kevin requests that those attending the visitation and funeral, wear a flannel shirt and blue jeans.  Cremation will follow the funeral service.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
