Lewis Dean Shaw, age 93, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at his Gladstone residence on Saturday January 11, 2025. Dean was born on December 14, 1931 in Gladstone, Illinois and was the son of Lewis Franklin and Ruth Merle Thompson Shaw. Dean was raised in Gladstone,  where he attended local schools and G & O High School. Dean first worked at a Sawmill in Burlington, Iowa for a number of years, and later was employed by J.I. Case Company in Burlington, Iowa until his retirement in 1994. Dean loved photography and raising cattle, donkeys, and horses on his farm. Dean is an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears Fan and also the Fighting Illini of the University of Illinois.He enjoyed watching old movies and the Chicago Blackhawks of television. Dean so enjoyed the music of Gene Autry ! 

He is survived by two nieces, Diane Marie Shaw and Janet Leora Shaw, both of Oquawka, Illinois; and one nephew Frank Edward Shaw and Christy of Wesley Point Chapel, Florida. His sister in law also is surviving, Darlene Kay Shaw of Oquawka, Illinois.  Dean is preceded in his death by his grandparents, parents, and his brother, Frank. 

As were his wishes, Dean is being cremated and is in the care of Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. A memorial service for him is planned by his family at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois on Thursday January 23, 2025 at 10:30 am. His ashes will be interred in Oquawka Cemetery by his family at a later date. His family plans to receive friends for the hour prior to the service at the funeral home 9:30 to 10:30 on Thursday.
