FFA Week Looks A Little Different In State Office

Share

This week, FFA chapters across the country celebrate the tradition that is National FFA Week. For Owen Torrance, Illinois FFA Secretary, FFA Week looks different as a State Officer than it did when he was a member of the West Prairie chapter.

“We’re going around to different chapters, different events, different section contest events, things like that; being with the members all throughout the state and celebrating FFA week,” says Torrance. “I know for me specifically, I have a couple of events where I’m going down to a couple chapters. I have a section that I’m going to just various things like that, all across the state, all throughout the FFA week.”

Torrance adds that Illinois FFA will also focus on a big social media presence, promoting FFA week and all its different aspects.

“It’s different as a member, because as a member at West Prairie, we just did dress-up days, and we had a school assembly, we played some games, all those fun things that a lot of chapters do. Definitely more within school, and within the area than what I’m going to be doing.”

While reflecting on his time at West Prairie High School, Torrance adds his favorite chapter tradition was Ag Awareness Day.
