Mrs. Janet M. Malone, 83, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away peacefully Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.

She was born on January 24, 1942, in Chestnut Township, Knox County, Illinois, the daughter of Elvin and Ruby (Martenson) Beck Lambiaso. She married Dale Raymond Malone on June 14, 1959, at the Christian Church in Abingdon.

Janet is survived by her husband, Dale; a daughter, Cathy (and Bill) Emeis of Tualatin, Oregon; a son, Roger (and Mary) Malone of Victoria, Illinois; a sister, Joyce McCollum of Chicago; six grandchildren, Tracey, Meghyn, Whitney, Molly, Doug and Miranda, and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Jacquelyn Mannon and Judith Beck.

Janet graduated from Spoon River Valley High School in 1959. In addition to being a full-time mother and homemaker, she worked in food service for the Spoon River Valley School District. She worked at Fey’s Processing for 30 years before becoming a tax assessor for Knox County prior to retirement. Community service was important to Janet, and her calendar was always full. She enjoyed baking, cake decorating, and sewing. She was an accomplished seamstress skilled at alterations; she found joy making blankets for those she loved as well as donating blankets to community organizations . She was a 4-H leader, a long-time member and leader of the Knox County Home Extension. She enjoyed bowling and making London Mills community copper kettle apple butter for the annual Spoon River Scenic Drive. She was a long-time member of the London Mills United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Abingdon Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Chapel with Rev. Kris McMillan officiating. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Knox County 4-H or London Mills United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
