Eldon E. Nichols, 89, of Milan, Illinois passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025 at St Anthony’s Continuing Care in Rock Island. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Friday, March 14, 2025 at Viola Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. Memorial contributions may be left to Viola United Methodist Church. Dennison Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Eldon was born on May 14, 1935 to Charles and Gladys Tibbs Nichols in Kirkwood, Illinois. He graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1953. Eldon served in the United States Army alongside Elvis Presley. He was a member of Viola United Methodist Church and Faith Fellowship Baptist Church. Eldon loved to work outside, travel, and ride his motorcycle.

Those left to cherish his memories include his significant other, Mary Masters; two granddaughters, Amanda Kness of Viola and Cassie Kness of South Carolina; two great grandchildren, Marcellus Trice of Viola and Ary Jones of South Carolina; one great-great grandchild, Kamilyah; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kimberly Kness, son-in-law, Michael Kness, and grandson, Brice Kness.
