After retirement she found great pleasure in volunteering for the Cottage Hospital Gift Shop and The Orpheum Theatre. She also enjoyed dressing as Mrs. Clause during the Christmas season at the Sandburg Mall.

Gladys was a faithful member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church.

I shall pass through this world only once any good that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me not defer or neglect it. For I shall not pass this way again.”

Services will begin at Noon at the church with Pastor Conner Morrison and her grandson, Pastor Andrew Wingo officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Abingdon Cemetery.
