With planting season in full swing in West Central Illinois and across the country, Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau President Jake Armstrong says there have been some ups and downs with the spring weather:
“We had a nice 10-day, maybe two week run there of getting some things done. Winds have been challenging to get sprayers going, but we have had some windows and opportunities that people have been taking advantage of. We are kind of in a lull right now. Once it dries out, people will go. I am always curious when we have lulls like this, that when harvest comes around, will we see two different crops, two different yields; is this going to be impactful or not. Only time will tell on that.”
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s March 31st Prospective Plantings report, 95.3 million acres of corn and 83.5 million acres of soybeans and predicted to be planted this 2025 season.
