Clita Marie Thurman Moore, age 97, went to be with her Lord & Savior on Sunday May 11, 2025 at her rural residence. Clita was born January 26, 1928 to Roy and Alice (Ciders) Thurman. She was raised in rural Point Pleasant Township near Roseville where she attended Booth rural school and graduated from Little York High School. She married Willard G. Moore on February 15, 1946 in Sugar Tree Grove Church.  He preceded her in death on January 28, 1989. Clita spent her life working side by side with her husband,Willard on their farm in rural Monmouth, Illinois.

Together they raised four children, Gene (Debbie) Moore, Terry (Pam) Moore, Larry (Sherry) Moore and Connie Frakes (Gary Gavin) all of rural Monmouth, Illinois. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband Willard, son Terry, brother Charles Thurman, and sister Argyle Lydic.

She is survived by her remaining children, and their spouses, her sisters, Carol Olson of Galesburg, and Sharon Lackey of the Villages, Florida as well as grandchildren Cindy Leisinger, Crystal Moore, Grant Moore, Leslie Monahan, Erin Harlan, Kellie Schumacher, Matthew Frakes, Kylie Frakes, Andrew Frakes and Michael Moore, twenty great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Clita’s focus in life was her family, her faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and the farm. She was an active member of Sugar Tree Grove Presbyterian Church. The church and its congregation were very dear to her and it brought her great joy to serve there. She also was active in the support of the American Cancer Society. Clita was known to her family for fresh baked cookies just inside the kitchen door, amazing candy and cookies at Christmas and her talent for hosting large family dinners at the holidays, and “feeding the hunters” during deer season. One of her grandchildren can be quoted as saying, “Grandma’s kitchen is magic

A funeral service for Clita Moore is planned at Sugar Tree Grove Church on Saturday May 17, 2025 at 10:00 am with interment to follow in Sugar Tree Grove Cemetery. There is no visitation being planned by her family, and her family has designated her memorial fund go to Sugar Tree Grove Cemetery.
