Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 4, 2025:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is freshman softball player, Carmyn Way. Carmyn led the Titans in hits with five, batting an even .500 for the week. She also rapped out a double and drove in two runs, while scoring three runs. Carmyn showed her speed on base paths, as well, stealing three bases in a victory over Spring Valley Hall.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior girls track and field athlete, Rosie Flynn. Rosie became the first female in school history to eclipse the sub-one minute mark in the 400 meter dash. She set the record of 59.66 seconds at the Mick Louck Invitational in Aledo. Rosie also won the same event at the United Red Storm Invite, along with being a part of four different first place winning relay teams during the week.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is freshman softball player, Lilly Higgins. What a great start to a high school career for Lilly. In just the last week, she led the Heat with seven hits, two home runs and 14 rbis. That gives Lilly a team-leading total of seven home runs and 39 runs driven in for the season.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is freshman girls track and field athlete, Ava Marty. Ava was amazing at the highly competitive Metamora Mach Speed and Flight Night meet. She bested over 50 runners, while placing first in the 200 meter dash. Ava was also a part of two winning relay teams and had a top-10 long jump, as well.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior softball player, Taylor Ford. Taylor was on fire last week, going 8-for-13 at the plate. Three of her eight hits were for extra bases, with two doubles and a home run. Taylor’s home run was the 6th of the season for the University of Illinois at Springfield recruit.
