McDonough District Hospital President and CEO Bill Murdock and Vice President of Business Strategy Patrick Osterman recently made the trip to Washington, D.C. to lobby against proposed cuts to Medicaid and the pharmacy discount program:

“Through the Illinois Hospitals Association, they lined up the visits with our local legislators and we just voiced our concerns being a small rural hospital. The importance of maintaining Medicaid rates and then also the pharmacy discount 340B program,” states Murdock.

“We had both Senators Durbin and Duckworth and we also had time with our legislators, Congressman Eric Sorensen and Congresswoman Mary Miller, we were able to meet with both of them. All four of them were very receptive to what we had to say,” Osterman adds.

“I believe our legislators realize the importance of maintaining rural healthcare in our communities as well,” shares Murdock.

Additionally, Dr. Tim Biagini is joining the medical staff at McDonough District Hospital as a board-certified gastroenterologist.
