Mrs. Mae Ellen Asbury, 82, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the Seminary Manor Nursing Home, Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born on January 23, 1943, the daughter of Ernest Ralph and Rebecca Alice (Nicol) Remer in Canton, Illinois.  She married Jerry Page in 1959 in London Mills, Illinois.  She later married Wayne Asbury on August 31, 1973, in Knoxville.  He preceded her in death after almost 50 years of marriage on July 8, 2023. 

Surviving are three sons, Kyle (and Lori) Page of Knoxville, Matthew (and Tammy) Page of Ocala, Florida, and Wayne E (and Mechelyn) Asbury, II of Gilson, Illinois, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ira Lee Asbury in 2016, a brother, Donald (and his wife Judith) Remer, and a sister, Betty Alice Powell. 

Mae graduated from Spoon River Valley in 1961.  She continued her education and graduated from Carl Sandburg College in 1976.  She was a Psychiatric Aide for 15 years at the Galesburg Research Hospital until 1977.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg.  She volunteered for several organizations and was the secretary for the Knoxville Women’s Club for many years.  She enjoyed reading and spending time with her friends.  She loved her family and traveling with her husband, Wayne. 

As Mae requested, cremation will be accorded.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel.  Rev. Deb Epley will officiate.  Private cremation scattering will be in East Linwood Cemetery Scattering Garden at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg or to Knoxville Women’s Club.  Online condolences may be shared at www.h-p-w.com
