Local Farmer Shares Outlook Ahead of Harvest Season

Share

As another harvest season draws closer, local farmer Jared Kunkle shares a field update:

“Things are looking, I think, fairly good overall. I think you will just have like every year, spotty stuff; worried about disease pressure in corn. Fungicide was a big thing this year. We will see if we can have some decent rains with no wind preferably. Hopefully, most people have steered clear of too much wind damage. I know we had a little bit down by Smithshire area that was real spotty on a couple farms. So, I think there will be some surprises like that, I don’t think it will be whole fields, but I think there will be some spots.”

Kunkle says the planting date tells the story, but anticipates farmers will get rolling on harvest in mid-September.
