Nancy Sue Hinshaw, 69, of Oquawka, Illinois, died peacefully at Oak Lane Nursing Home, Stronghurst, Illinois on Monday, August 18, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.

Nancy was born in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Harold Wilson and Velma Mae (Simpson) Henshaw. She graduated from Westmer High School.

Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Amanda (and Brian) Randall of Gladstone, Illinois and their son, Curtis, and Kayla (and Rob) Wilcox of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and their son, Camden; one son, Scott (Ashley) Hinshaw of Burlington, Iowa and their children, Gracey, Hudson, and Haisley. Nancy is also survived by two brothers, Allen Henshaw of Keithsburg, Illinois and Jay Henshaw of Oquawka; one sister, Joyce Jones Oquawka; and her beloved dachshund, Almond, who has been her loyal companion for years. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jack Henshaw; and one sister, Dixie Bigger.

Nancy worked for many years at Fisher’s Grocery in Oquawka. She will be remembered for her Saturday cookouts at the grocery store. Nancy’s grandchildren were the light of her life. She had a big heart for all animals and was as selfless as one could be. No matter what she would give a person all she had often to a fault. Nancy had a musical ear and enjoyed listening to numerous types of music, especially old country and western.

Memorial visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025 at Turnbull Funeral Home, Oquawka, Illinois. Graveside services will follow at 11:15 a.m. at Oquawka Cemetery, Oquawka. A luncheon and celebration of life will follow at Mama’s Place in Oquawka. Memorial contributions may be directed in Nancy’s memory to the Henderson County Humane Society.
