Mary F. Martin, 80, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 22, 1945 in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Gerald W. and Helen I. (VonAch) Johnson. Mary was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School in 1964.

Mary married Joseph L. Martin on March 17, 1966 in Monmouth, IL; he preceded her in death on January 1, 2004.

Mary was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family. She enjoyed bowling and painting ceramics. Mary loved to work in her flower gardens and enjoyed the beauty they provided. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving Mary is her daughter, Tamara S. (James) Slater of Biggsville, IL; her granddaughter, Jaclyn M. Slater of Galesburg, IL; her grandson, Joseph M. Slater of Monmouth, IL; her sister-in-law, Patti Martin of Monmouth, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Laurette Hawk; and her brother, Charles Johnson.

Cremation rites have been accorded. No visitation or services are planned. Memorials can be made to WIAR or First Lutheran Church of Monmouth and can be sent to the funeral home.
