Made possible through a donation by the Ralph Whiteman family, each year the Monmouth-Roseville Education Foundation selects a new class of individuals to induct into the Hall of Achievement to recognize accomplishments and honor the teachers and administrators who helped make their success possible. One member of the 2025 Hall of Achievement is Robin Johnson, a 1976 graduate of Monmouth High School, currently teaches political science at Monmouth College and hosts the radio program Heartland Politics. Johnson recalls the excellent teaching style he had at Monmouth correlates to his classroom today:
“One of the things I am very grateful for, the older I get, is that I had some excellent teachers. I have to mention, the importance of teaching was demonstrated to me with Bill Piper, who I’m sure a lot of people know and remember. Biology was not my thing. My brother was the science person, but I had to take that and I waited until me senior year with Bill and I dreaded it because I just wasn’t interested in it. He made that course absolutely fascinating. I think I got an ‘A’ as I recall, and it just taught me that a good professor can really bring any topic to life and make it interesting to you. That is one of the challenges I have that I like to try and tackle when I teach my classes at Monmouth.”
Mark Lovdahl and Luke Raymond will also join Johnson in being inducted into the 2025 Hall of Achievement, as well as Shawn Temple, who will be honored with the Distinguished Service Award, during a ceremony this Saturday, September 20th at the Warren County History Museum beginning at 10 am.
