Annie Mae Shrum, age 81 of rural Keithsburg, Illinois, passed away at 2:18 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at her home.  She was born January 31, 1944, the daughter of Burl and Dorothy Shepard Herring.  On February 2, 1964, she married James Shrum in Carthage, Illinois.

Annie was a homemaker most of her life. She lived in Carthage, Illinois and Media, lllinois before moving to her current residence near Keithsburg.  She loved playing cards, enjoyed her cats and dogs, and visiting with her friends and neighbors.  When in Media, she attended the Media Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, James, one son, Harold (Barbara) Shrum of Stronghurst, one daughter, Julia Love of Greenville, KY, five grandchildren, Hannah (Tim) Sirovy, Frankie Portillo, Reissa Portillo, Thais (Larry) McCord, and Dustin (Bonnie) Portillo, and eight great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, twin daughters, Anna Jean and Anna Jane Shrum, one sister, Dorothy Pulliam, and one granddaughter, Sara Shrum.

The graveside service for Annie will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage, Illinois, with Quentin Peterson officiating. No visitation is planned.  A memorial fund has been established for the Oquawka Ambulance Service.  Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst is assisting the family.
