Susan M. Redington, 61, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away peacefully August 12, 2025.

Susan was born March 25, 1964, to Curtis Michael Redington and Sandra J. Redington in Galesburg, IL. She was raised and educated in Metamora, IL and graduated from Metamora High School in 1983, where she excelled in volleyball, basketball and track.

Susan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from Western Illinois University. Susan was recruited as a thrower for the track team and spoke fondly of her time at WIU.

Susan began her career at the Review Atlas in Monmouth before joining the Galesburg Register Mail, from where she retired. Anyone who knew Susan heard the stories about “all the paper she pushed” in her lifetime.

Susan was a volunteer firefighter and trained weather spotter in Monmouth for many years. She was very proud that she passed the grueling firefighter training each certification period. Susan loved music-teaching herself to play the guitar and the drums. She enjoyed 4-wheeling with friends, motorcycle riding, and boxing. Susan had incredible artistic talent and enjoyed photography, collecting antique cameras, working on art projects and making custom ornaments for family and friends. Susan had a soft spot for her many cats and dogs throughout her lifetime. Susan’s greatest passion was for her vehicles; she was a Chevy girl all the way. Chevy #1.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved sister, Barbara Redington Bean. She is survived by her brother, Mike (Sandra) Redington; and brother-in-law Richard L. Bean. Her memory lives on with her nieces and nephews; Jessica (Daniel) Switzer, Curtis (Sarah) Redington, Sarah (Stanton) Brown, Abigail, Richard “Bud” and Olivia Bean; several great-nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Susan’s life will be held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monmouth Fire Department and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Roseville, is handling the arrangements.
