Mr. Gary Scott Lybarger, 58, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 10:36 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois, surrounded by his family.

Scott was born January 25, 1967, in Monmouth, Illinois, to Gary D. and Elva (Bickell) Lybarger.  He married Ann Hebbeln on September 26, 1991, in Monmouth, Illinois.

Surviving Scott are his wife of 34 years, Ann Lybarger of Galesburg; one son, Brandon (and Amanda) Lybarger of Galesburg; his father and stepmother, Gary (and Connie) Lybarger of Cameron; his mother, Elva Cox of Galesburg; one sister, Debra (and Gary Jones) Lybarger of Galesburg; and one granddaughter, Ila Lybarger.  He was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Cox, and his mother-in-law, Nancy Gilbraith.

Scott graduated from Monmouth High School in 1985.  He was employed by Maytag Manufacturing Company, Midstate Manufacturing Company, and Derby Industries, all in Galesburg.  He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Galesburg.

Scott was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed wearing Harley-Davidson apparel.  In his free time, he liked working on jigsaw puzzles and puzzle books and assembling Lego cars.

In accordance with Scott’s wishes, cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel.  Memorials may be made to the family.
