Kirk L. Brockett, 65, of Monmouth, IL passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 at his home.

Kirk was born November 6, 1960 in Burlington, IA the son of Richard and Helena (Temple) Brockett.  He was raised and educated in Aledo, IL, graduating from Aledo High School in 1978.

Kirk married Marie Cavanaugh on December 10, 2004 in Monmouth and she survives.

Kirk worked most of life as a building contractor, building garages and doing home renovations and repairs.  He also worked for IDOT as a snow bird during the winter months.  He worked the last 12 years for Gates Rubber in Galesburg.

He loved camping, travelling, fishing, flying and going on the power tours and car shows with his brothers-in-law.   Kirk was an avid dog lover and made sure his “Puppy Box” was supplied with treats.  Kirk never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends, neighbors and those in need.  He was a wonderful family man.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Cavanaugh; son, Jason (Nicole) Brockett; granddaughters, Mikayla, Gracie and Jaydin; great-granddaughter, Lily; bonus children, Ryan (Morgan) Haptonstall and Carrie “Squirt” (Andy Bergschneider) Haptonstall; his brother, Kevin (Suzanne) Brockett; sister, Lisa (Ed) Anderson and Tina (Larry) Partain; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has been accorded.  No services or visitation is planned at this time. A private family interment will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Strom Center in Monmouth or the Children’s Room at the Warren County Library and sent to the funeral home.
