Ruth L. Gosney, 80, of Monmouth, Il passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025 in Monmouth.

Ruth was born June 23, 1945 in Monmouth, the daughter of Rex and Dorothy (Rittenhouse) Bivens.  She was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School and later Carl Sandburg College with a degree in Nursing.

Ruth married Phil Gosney in Kalamazoo, MI on October 23, 1964 and he passed away on November 25, 2002.

She worked at several area nursing homes as a nurse.

Ruth enjoyed gardening, plants and gambling.  She had a deep love of pets.

Survivors include her daughters, Daphne Hedges and Yvonne (Mike) Chenault; her brother, Terry Bivens; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marquita Gosney; grandson, Josh Hedges and her siblings, Peggy Butler and Stanley Bivens.
