Clyde C. Boyd, 92, of Galesburg, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Goldwater Care of Roseville. He was born January 25, 1933, in Monmouth, the son of Charles C. and Iva May (Hubbard) Boyd. He was raised and educated in Galesburg.

Clyde was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Washington.

He married Betty R. Ratliff on February 14, 1954, in Cameron, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on April 24, 2013.

Those left to cherish his memory are; three daughters, Sheryl Johnson of Burlington, Iowa, Sandra (Chuck) Pierson of Knoxville, and Susan (John) Freed of North Mankato, Minn.; one son, Bryan Boyd of Macomb; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Ronnie Danforth; son-in-law, Chris Johnson; grandson, Lance Johnson; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Johnson.

He attended Bradley University to study watchmaking and later worked for the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement in 1995.

Clyde and Betty enjoyed riding their Harley-Davidson motorcycle and logged more than 250,000 miles in their travels. One such trip was from Canada to Mobile, Ala. His main joy in life was his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending tractor shows with his son and grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dianna Cassiday for her years of caring for both Betty and Clyde. Also to Goldwater Care and Hospice Compassus for their care.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2026 at the Biggsville Cemetery, Biggsville, Illinois. A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Francis Children’s Hospital and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Roseville, is handling the arrangements.
