In the upcoming Primary Election in Illinois, Warren County residents will elect a new sheriff. One of the four republican candidates on the ballot is Jack Baskett, who is currently a Sergeant with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Baskett explains his goals if elected the next Warren County Sheriff:
“Number one transparency; being a sheriff among the people, keeping the community aware and informed of what is going on in the Sheriff’s Office, what is going on in the community that affects the day in and day out, and talking to people in the community. We deal with a limited slice of the population. Most people don’t need us until they need us,” Baskett states.
“Goals, standardized testing and the application process, increased staff training, retention of staff, being able to work with resources that I don’t think we are currently using. I am not a Monday through Friday, eight to four person. As a patrol sergeant I am not in the office much. I believe our position is to be out among the people,” adds Baskett.
Primary Election Day in Illinois is Tuesday, March 17th, 2026.
