On January 9, 2026, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a vehicle wanted in connection with counterfeit currency offenses reported in Monmouth, Illinois.
The vehicle had fled from a traffic stop initiated by the Monmouth Police Department and was later observed traveling eastbound on Interstate 34 entering Knox County. Knox County deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the vehicle failed to yield and fled, resulting in a pursuit
.
During the pursuit, Knox County deputies initiated a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver in an effort to safely stop the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle subsequently came to a stop in Galva, Illinois, at which time the occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot
.
Knox County deputies located and took two subjects into custody in separate areas. A third subject was later located and apprehended with the assistance of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Galva Police Department
.
The subjects are believed to be involved in fraudulent activity throughout the State of Illinois, and the investigation remains ongoing in coordination with partnering agencies.
All three subjects were taken into custody without further incident and are being transported by deputies with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office to the Monmouth Police Department for further processing.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere thanks to all assisting agencies for their coordination and efforts, which resulted in the safe apprehension of the involved subjects.
