Clear water in a hot tub doesn’t necessarily mean the chemical balance is correct. Tri-States Water Pools and Spas President and Owner Kirk Gilmore recommends testing the water weekly to prevent costly repairs:
“A lot of people think that if it is clear, it is fine, but that can be farther from the truth than you really think it is. What you really need to do is at least once a week is test your water. I would test it more than once just until you get to know it; you are the one getting in and out of it, so you know when the chemicals are going to change at any given period in time. Keeping it balanced is keeping it away from costly repairs.”
