The Monmouth Police Department has recently received a generous donation for much needed equipment upgrades. Police Chief Joe Switzer shares more.

“The Immanuel Baptist Church donated $6,577 to the police department. We had AEDs that were antiquated, so they donated the funds to us. I was able to buy five brand new, up to date, state of the art AEDs, and the officers will have one in their squad car. I feel that’s a good thing for the community. The officers are oftentimes the first person on scene to those medical events. If an AED is needed, the officer will have a brand new AED to work with.”

Chief Switzer also shared January numbers for the department. The Monmouth Police made 43 arrests and issued 91 citations. Dispatch received 2,611 calls, with MPD handling 1,541 of those. The dispatch center handled 2,688 calls overall. Officers also responded to 11 accidents and worked 18 grant hours.
