Ruby Ann (Overstreet) Bowen, 77, of Raritan, Illinois, passed away at 3:45 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Allure of Lake Storey in Galesburg. She was born March 24, 1948, in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Wayne and Mary (Pendarvis) Overstreet. She attended Raritan and Media-Weaver schools graduating in 1966.

She married Rodney Bryant Bowen on July 11, 1971, in Raritan, IL and he preceded her in death.

She was the mother of two children; Danielle Elizabeth (Tim) Bowen Matthews of Washington, IL and Garrett Wayne Bowen of Raritan, IL; she was the grandmother of six grandkids, Ember Nicole (Nathan) Bowen of Kirkwood, IL, Jesslyn Ann (Chris) Sours of Monmouth, IL Skyler Bryant  (Kaisha) Sours of Burlington, IL, Lacey Michelle, William Bryant, and Lilly Ann Bowen all of Raritan, IL; her great grandchildren Aydenn Michael Bowen, Jentry Wayne Bryant, Mannix William Easley of Kirkwood, IL; Jayce Arthur and Rhys Ledger Sours of Burlington, IA; siblings, Darvis (Priscilla) Overstreet of Fayetteville, GA, David (Judy) Overstreet of Sciota, IL, Anita Overstreet of Roseville, IL, Rita Hoyle of Lawrenceville, KS; two nieces and a nephew.

Ruby graduated from the Burlington Beauty Academy. After graduation she worked at Marcia’s Beauty Shop, in Stronghurst, for several years. After that she had a beauty shop in her home until she retired.

Ruby was a lifelong animal lover, but most specifically dogs and horses. She had several dogs throughout her life, with a real love for collies, even raising them for a brief period. She and Rod owned horses and ponies for many years. She loved the Kentucky Derby and watched every year.

She spent countless hours researching family history. She developed a passion for genealogy, compiling thousands of documents over a 30 year period, tracing both sides of her family lineage back hundreds of years.

Ruby loved old movies, classic black & white and westerns. Introducing kids & grandkids to the golden era movies. She instilled a love of all of her passion in each member of her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in the Raritan Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be in the Raritan Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Roseville, is handling the arrangements.
