Mr. Scott A. Reid, 54, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Scott was born October 29, 1971, in Galesburg, the son of Steve and Christine Marie (Barton) Reid.

Surviving are his parents, Steve and Christine Reid of Galesburg; two brothers, Matt (and Katrina) Reid of Normal, Illinois, and Jason (and Linda Bjorkman) Reid of Galesburg; two Aunts, Mary Daves of Galesburg and Laura Reid of Galesburg; three cousins, Amy Miller of Indianapolis, Indiana, Joshua (and Kelsey) Reid of Channahon, Illinois, and Megan (and John) VanVleet of Monmouth, Illinois; nieces and nephews, Ryan (and Tamaney Gibbons) Reid, Alyssa Reid, Brenna Reid, Bryce Reid, and Seth (and Kassandra) Reid; a great-niece, Arya Reid and a great-nephew, Theo Reid.  He was preceded in death by his uncles, James “Boomer” Reid and Robert “Bob” Daves. 

Scott graduated from Galesburg High School in 1989. He worked as a bookkeeper for Alexander Lumber Company in Galesburg for 12 years, until 2007.  He collected baseball cards and enjoyed playing video games.  A die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, Scott especially enjoyed trips to Wrigley Field to watch his beloved Cubs play.  Above all, Scott loved spending time with his family, particularly sharing conversations with his brothers about sports, movies, or his favorite show, South Park.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel.  As Scott requested, cremation will follow the visitation.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Shriners Children’s.  Online condolences may be shared at www.h-p-w.com.
