In operation 24 hours a day, Monmouth’s Smithfield facility employs 1,500 across their three daily shifts. With the mission of producing ‘Good Food. Responsibly;’ Corporate Buyer Robin Scanlan shares two major fundraisers the Monmouth employees take part in each year:

“We do a United Way drive every year. Employees get to donate money through a payroll deduction. We also have a company match for that. I think this year was $117,000 that we were able to donate to the United Way. My favorite is the Toy Drive that we do for the Jamieson Community Center. That is also 100 percent funded by employee donation. They donate any amount; from five dollars to fifty dollars to one hundred dollars. We offer a payroll deduction and Smithfield corporate does a company match part of that as well. Then we have a committee that does the shopping for the toys. This year we were able to provide toys for 500 kids through the Jamieson Community Center Christmas Store.”
