Dennis L. Liggett, 56, of Monmouth, IL passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at his home.

Dennis was born June 21, 1969 in Monmouth, the son of Danny E. and Rozella E. (Lathrop) Liggett.  He was and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1987.

Dennis married Lynette D. Allen in Monmouth on July 19, 1997 and she survives.

Dennis was a Supervisor at Smithfield Foods in Monmouth for 34 years.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR, drag racing, kayaking, and camping.  He was an avid Chicago Bulls and San Francisco 49ers fan.  He collected Budweiser memorabilia. Dennis was a huge animal fan.  More than anything else he loved being around his family and friends. 

Survivors include his wife, Lynette Liggett; 3 children, Travis Allen, Tiffany (Jake) Switzer and Brittany Liggett; 7 grandchildren, Nick (Hayleigh) Allen, Skylar Allen, Nathan Switzer, Natalie Switzer, Austin Allen, Tara Liggett and Victoria Switzer; 2 great-grandchildren, Declan Allen and Kyan Allen; his sister, Crista Liggett; his brother, Terry Liggett; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dustin Liggett.

A gathering of family of friends will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, April 3, 2026 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Cremation has been accorded.  A private family interment will take place at Monmouth Cemetery at a later date.  Memorials may be given to Hope Lodge, Iowa City, IA and sent to the funeral home.   For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
