J. “Maxine” Windsor

J. “Maxine” Windsor, age 97, formerly of Oneida Illinois, went to be with the Lord on Saturday March 14, 2026 at 1:00 PM.

Maxine was born on November 21, 1928 in Youngstown, Illinois to Henry Russell and Helen Naomi (Watt) Day. Maxine graduated from Biggsville, Illinois. After graduating, she attended Western Illinois Teachers College and taught for one year in a one room schoolhouse. She then went on to work in the bookstore at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois.

Maxine Married Bene Windsor on June 12, 1949 in Biggsville, Illinois. In the early years of their marriage, they farmed in the Macomb area. They then moved to Iowa where they farmed together for fifteen additional years, before returning to Illinois to make their forever home in Oneida. She is survived by her children, Karen (Gene) Larkin of Roseville, Illinois, Janet (Al) Curry of Toulon, Illinois, Jo (Bill) Barnett of Taylorville, Illinois, Jim (Debbie) Windsor of Atkinson, Illinois, and Karla (Jeff) Smith of Princeville, Illinois, twelve grandchildren: Beth (Aaron) Parsons, Shawn (Amanda) Larkin, Paul Larkin, Lyn (Tom Harrington) Curry, Seth (Seena) Curry, Tim (Audra) Barnett, Jeff (Amanda) Barnett, Reba (Josh) Warren, Eric (Cait) Windsor, Adam Windsor, Kristi Smith, Andy (Becca) Smith. and seventeen great-grandchildren; Hannah and Ronald Ludington, Molly Parson, Connor, Elise, Cadence, and Derek Larkin. Callum and Emerson Curry, Sabrina, Rion, and Chase Warren, Spencer and Jackson Barnett, Henry and Teddy Windsor, Brenan, and Mabrey Smith; and three great-great grandchildren; Ralph, Scarlet, and Oliver Ludington. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bene, and all of her siblings

She was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Church group, Oneida Women’s Club, and the Knox Co. Home Extension Community Association.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 am, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am at United Methodist Church in Oneida, Illinois with Pastor David Pyell officiating. Memorials may be given to Gregg Library in Oneida, Illinois or T.R.I.A.D. 152 S. Kellog Street, Galesburg, Illinois. A memory box for her ashes will be placed near her casket.
