Mrs. Joyce A. Hodge, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 6:37 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.

She was born August 18, 1940, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Frank L. and Katherine (Meadows) Mills, Sr. She married Bradley Hodge on January 22, 1961, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2010, after 49 years of marriage.

Joyce is survived by her son, Scott (and Penny Albright) Hodge of Des Moines, Iowa; her daughter, Kathy (and Mike) Steele of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Dylan Myler, Braden (and Joanne) Myler, Michael Hodge, and Katherine Hodge; and four great-grandchildren, Florinda, Briar, Fallon, and Konner. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Anna Mills, Jr.

Joyce graduated from Galesburg High School in 1958. She was employed by Knox-Warren Special Education until the birth of her children, after which she devoted herself to caring for her family. She later became a dedicated in-home childcare provider for 34 years before retiring. Following her retirement, she volunteered at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

As Joyce requested, cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2026, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel, with Pastor Jordan Knight officiating. Cremation burial will take place at Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg.
