Monmouth-Roseville High School Hosting Annual IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contest

Share

The Monmouth-Roseville High School Music Department will try to claim yet another state championship this weekend as they host the annual IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday. The vocal department has won 13 straight Class B state titles. Combined with the band, Monmouth-Roseville has won 4 of the last 6 class B overall music state titles. Vocal Coach Kevin Ferry and Band Directors Arturo Martinez and Hannah Murray have been a big part of that success. All 13 vocal state championships have been won under Ferry’s direction.

There is expected to be over 1100 separate musical events by over 800 students in 27 performance rooms. Ferry says it takes major dedication from his Monmouth-Roseville kids to maintain consistent success in the music program.

The IHSA Solo and Ensemble competition will start at 7:30am on Saturday at Monmouth-Roseville High School. We’ll have live coverage from the event from 1:30-3:30 in the afternoon on Sunny 97.7 WMOI and radiomonmouth.com.
